About

Adore Beauty is Australia's longest running online beauty store and an official stockist of over 200 leading global beauty brands. In early 2000, at the tender age of 21, beauty junkie Kate Morris decided to start Adore Beauty from her garage in Melbourne. A university job on cosmetics counters led Kate to realise that most women found department stores intimidating. She borrowed $12,000 from her boyfriend’s parents, and set about building a disruptive new shopping experience that would empower beauty consumers. Kate has received many awards and accolades, including Telstra Young Businesswoman of the Year for Victoria in 2010, and the Business Innovation Award for Victoria at the Telstra Business Women’s Awards in 2014. Kate was inducted into the Australian Businesswomen’s Network Hall of Fame in 2015.

Sustainability Efforts 

• Takeaway coffee cups are banned at Adore Beauty worksites. All staff are issued with a Keep Cup as part of their induction.

• Adore Beauty introduced volumetric box sizing in their warehouse, which basically means they use software to work out the smallest box size that the items will fit into for each order. This saves around 12 tonnes of cardboard per year!

• They use void fill that's 100% recycled matter and 100% recyclable. That means less product packaging and less plastic packaging too.

• Adore Beauty are currently trialing a recyclable paper alternative to bubble wrap, to cushion fragile glass items. 

• They've changed shipping labels so that the backings are recyclable and use soft plastic that is 90% recyclable.

• Adore Beauty have switched to reusable calico bags instead of plastic ones, and have ditched plastic AB gift cards in favour of electronic versions. 

• They’ve switched our power usage at both our offices and warehouse to 100% Green Power, which means all Adore Beauty power comes from renewable sources.

• Carbon offset deliveries - Adore Beauty's delivery partner Australia Post offsets the carbon emissions from all their deliveries.
